The climate and the weather on Mallorca are mainly influenced by the winds. Summers are hot and dry with up to 40 degrees in the centre of the island. The Sierra de Tramuntana in the northwest of Mallorca has more than fourty mountain tops over 1000 meter and protects the rest of the island from the cold northern winterwinds.
